Road Network in GanjamWhen it comes to road connectivity OSRTC Buses (Odisha State Road Transport Corporation) play immensely important role. Although OSRTC Buses connects Ganjam to only important districts and cities residing within Odisha state. Since OSRTC Buses ply its buses only within the boundaries of Odisha state. Auto rickshaws and hand rickshaws are the most popular local transportation in important cities like Brahmapur and Chatrapur. Besides, taxis are also available in quite few numbers in both these cities. All these transport facilities can be easily availed from Brahmapur & Chatrapur stations and their nearby areas. As far as local transportation facilities in deep interiors of Ganjam District is concerned, then transportation options there are still far and few.
City Bus Services in GanjamIn 2014 a much needed boost to Ganjam’s local transportation was given by inaugurating city bus service. This newly inaugurated bus service will ply mainly between Brahmapur & Chatrapur and between few other towns. This bus service though is still in a very nascent stage and hence its frequency is not that high. Overall, from above information it can be summed up that while Ganjam enjoys very good connectivity with rest of India but still lot of improvement is needed on the front of local transportation. The existing number of auto rickshaws and hand rickshaws are way to less to cope with ever increasing transportation needs of locals. In this context, newly inaugurated bus service is surely right step in right direction.
